What are your opinions on bringing dogs shopping with you?

I feel that dogs should be able to come inside a store if they are well behaved (they should have their good dog citizen award or something) and the owner leaves them on a leash. They also shouldn't be allowed anywhere near food. But other than that, as long as they aren't disturbing anyone, hurting merchandise, are clean, kept on a leash, and the owner cleans up all it's messes, I don't see what is wrong with it.
