TORONTO -- Toronto Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista returned to the starting lineup Tuesday afternoon for the first time since suffering a strained left hamstring over a week ago. . Bautista was in his usual No. 3 position in the batting order and served as designated hitter for the opener of a two-game series against Milwaukee at Rogers Centre. The all-star right-fielder suffered the injury during a game June 22 at Cincinnati. Bautista made a pinch-hit appearance in Sundays 4-0 loss to the Chicago White Sox. He was 0-for-1 and left two runners on base. Toronto took a three-game losing skid into the matinee against the Brewers. The Blue Jays started the day with a one-game lead over the Baltimore Orioles in the American League East division standings. Bautista is batting .304 this season with 15 homers and 49 RBIs. . Manager Ryan Nelsen has confirmed Brazilian No. 1 Julio Cesar will be rested for Wednesdays first leg of the semifinal. Woods is listed as probable. He suffered the injury late in practice on Wednesday while making a cut on the field. Woods missed practice Thursday, but returned on a limited basis Friday. After practice Friday, Woods was optimistic about his chances. "I feel pretty good," Woods said. "I had the ankle injury before, this is a slight one and I just want to go out there and play. I feell good and Im happy it didnt take long. . " Woods had surgery on the same ankle in the off-season. In other Bills injury news, linebacker Keith Rivers (groin) is listed as doubtful. Rivers suffered a groin injury in Buffalos season opener against Chicago and missed Buffalos Week 2 game against Miami. Wide receiver Sammy Watkins (ribs), guard Chris Williams (back), defensive tackle Stefan Charles (hip) and tight end Lee Smith (toe) are probable.
